Job summary

Dandenong & District Aborigines Co-operative Ltd (DDACL) in Cranbourne, VIC, is seeking a Health Promotion Officer to deliver culturally appropriate health promotion initiatives for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in Melbourne's south-east.

You will work with a small team to raise awareness, support chronic disease prevention, mental wellbeing, and community connection, and strengthen engagement with health services across Melbourne's south-east.

Qualifications

• Experience in health promotion or a related field.
• Understanding of social determinants impacting Aboriginal health outcomes.
• Experience engaging with Aboriginal communities respectfully.
• Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with community members and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Deliver health promotion activities and education programs for First Nations communities.
• Support initiatives that reduce chronic disease risk and improve wellbeing.
• Develop culturally appropriate health promotion resources and materials.
• Assist in planning and coordinating community events and activities.
• Collaborate with community members, service providers and program partners.
• Support access to health screening and other health services.
• Collect and maintain program data for reporting and improvement.
• Attend networks, meetings and communities of practice.
