Job summary

Randwick City Council is seeking a dynamic Curator First Nations (Identified) to join the La Perouse Museum and lead cultural programming and exhibitions reflecting Aboriginal significance. The role liaises with the La Perouse Aboriginal community and external stakeholders to deliver services across collections, research and visitor experiences.

Qualifications

• Applicants must be of Aboriginal descent through parentage and identify as Aboriginal and be accepted by the community.
• Strong cultural knowledge and demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
• Experience or equivalent competence gained through education, training and experience pertaining to the role.

Responsibilities

• Oversee care and representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander objects, artefacts and artworks for exhibition and conservation.
• Develop engaging programs focusing on Aboriginal culture across the Museum and Headland to amplify cultural significance.
• Assist the Museum team to deliver programs including exhibition content, research, collections and programming.
