Job summary

Interrelate is seeking a First Nations Community Development Worker to join our Wiradjuri country team in Dubbo. The role requires cultural safety, strong relationship-building, and travel to Orange and surrounds.

It is a fixed-term contract until 30 June 2028, 37.5 hours a week, with an hourly rate of $57.72 plus superannuation and salary packaging options. You will work with Elders, families and community members to deliver culturally informed programs, support services, and events that

Qualifications

  • Aboriginality or Torres Strait Islander background as a genuine occupational qualification.
  • Certificate IV in Community Development is highly desirable.
  • Experience in community work with First Nations families and children.
  • Experience in case management or willingness to develop these skills.
  • Understanding of social issues affecting First Nations communities in the local region.
  • Experience engaging with First Nations communities and relevant stakeholders.
  • Understanding of family separation impacts on First Nations children.

Responsibilities

  • Assist First Nations people to access Interrelate services by building referrals and partnerships.
  • Develop strategies, networking, and promotion to enhance service access.
  • Identify community needs for stronger family relationships and parenting support.
  • Organise group seminars, community events, forums, and workshops.
  • Facilitate Aboriginal Building Connections training for the community.
