Job summary

North West Hospital and Health Service is seeking an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioner for the Child Health Connected Community Pathways (CCP) across Mount Isa, Mornington Island and Doomadgee. You will support First Nations families and contribute to health, development, and wellbeing in the critical early years.

Join the Maternal Child and Youth Health team to provide health assessments, education and immunisation support, helping to keep families connected to culture

Qualifications

• AQF Certificate IV or Diploma in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care required.
• Current registration as an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioner with the ATSIHPBA.
• Immunisation certificate or ability to obtain within six months of employment.
• Complete credentialing with the Scope of Practice Committee within six weeks of commencement.
• This is a genuine occupational requirement for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander identification.

Responsibilities

• Build trusted relationships with families and communities.
• Provide health assessments and education to First Nations children.
• Support child development and immunisation programs.
• Contribute to the Keeping First Nations Mums and Bubs on Country initiative.
