Job summary

Sailaway Port Douglas is seeking a casual First Deckhand to deliver exceptional customer service while ensuring safety and comfort on board. You will engage guests with information about Sailaway products and manage operational tasks with high cleanliness and safety standards.

The role requires sailing/boating knowledge, strong safety procedures, reef interpretation, and the ability to lead snorkel tours for diverse guests, including children. Apply for an engaging role on the Great Barrier Reef.

Qualifications

• Experience on vessels or in tourism environments.
• Strong knowledge of safety management systems and vessel handling.
• Ability to lead guided snorkel tours and island heritage walks.
• Excellent communication with diverse passengers, including children.

Responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional customer service with professionalism and friendliness.
• Manage passenger boarding, manifest checks, money collection and headcounts.
• Conduct safety and snorkelling briefs and guided tours with reef interpretation.
• Lead Glass Bottom Boat Tours and maintain vessel cleanliness and safety.
• Assist in safety drills and ensure first aid readiness and equipment maintenance.
