Job summary

SIRDAR Steel Pty Ltd. is seeking a Welder (First Class) to join its Somerton, VIC workshop. You will interpret drawings, select materials, cut and prepare components, and weld using MIG, TIG and arc processes to meet project specifications.

Responsibilities include inspecting welds, maintaining dimensional accuracy, and ensuring safe operation of tools and equipment in a busy fabrication environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 12 months' welding experience in structural steel fabrication.
• AQF Certificate III in welding or related engineering trade; Certificate IV or 3+ years' experience preferred.
• Proficient in MIG, TIG and arc welding on structural steel components.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and welding symbols; maintain dimensional accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Interpret drawings to determine welding and fabrication requirements.
• Prepare steel sections and components for fabrication.
• Perform MIG, TIG and arc welding to join structural steel.
• Inspect welds for penetration, bead quality and alignment.
• Operate grinders and cutting tools safely and efficiently.
• Maintain equipment and uphold workplace safety standards.
