Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a hands-on Fire Technician to support inspection, servicing, maintenance, fault-finding, and installation of fire protection systems in Port Macquarie or Coffs Harbour.

You will work with a diverse customer base to ensure life-safety systems remain compliant, reliable, and ready when it matters most, while benefiting from structured onboarding and ongoing technical training within a global leader.

Qualifications

  • Qualified in fire protection with relevant licences.
  • Electrical licence or fire industry experience preferred.
  • Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding skills.
  • Ability to plan, schedule, and manage time.
  • Knowledge of WHS requirements.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect customer sites and identify fire protection requirements.
  • Service, maintain, and repair fire protection and life safety systems.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance in accordance with Australian Standards.
  • Complete installations, upgrades, and minor project works.
  • Diagnose faults and perform corrective maintenance.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships through exceptional service delivery.

About the Role

Due to continued growth across the region, we are seeking a Fire Technician to join our team, with the position able to be based in either in Port Macquarie or Coffs Harbour.

This is a hands‑on role responsible for the inspection, servicing, maintenance, fault‑finding, repair, and installation of a wide range of fire protection systems and equipment. You'll work with a diverse customer base, ensuring fire systems remain compliant, operational, and ready when it matters most.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect customer sites and identify fire protection requirements.

  • Service, maintain, and repair fire protection and life safety systems.

  • Conduct preventative maintenance in accordance with Australian Standards.

  • Complete installations, upgrades, and minor project works.

  • Diagnose faults and perform corrective maintenance activities.

  • Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with company and regulatory requirements.
