Job summary

Downer invites applications to join our permanent workforce at RAAF Amberley as a Fire Systems Technician. Commencing February 2026, we’re seeking candidates from diverse backgrounds who can contribute to Defence capability and uphold safety and reliability across base facilities.

You’ll maintain, test, inspect and repair fire detection and suppression systems in line with Australian Standards and Defence requirements, complete scheduled maintenance, and ensure all records are accurately entered

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Fire Systems Testing and Inspections is required.
• Experience inspecting, testing, maintaining and repairing fire systems.
• Must be able to obtain Defence Security Clearance (Australian citizenship required).
• Current open driver’s licence is required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, test, inspect and repair fire detection and suppression systems per standards.
• Perform scheduled maintenance and respond to corrective tasks.
• Record test results accurately in the systems.
• Coordinate with Defence representatives on status and outages.
• Ensure compliance with essential service maintenance and certifications.
