Job summary

FinOps Weekly seeks a mid-to-senior FinOps professional to optimise cloud spend and deliver financial insight across SaaS and cloud environments in Brisbane. You will translate usage data into actionable insights, manage commitments, and support budgeting and forecasting with cross-functional teams.

You will build FinOps capability, validate savings after implementations, and stay current with FOCUS/Inform-Optimise-Operate practices while preserving governance and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• 2–5 years of experience in cloud FinOps, cloud cost management, data analytics, or related cloud/software engineering discipline.
• Proficiency with cloud cost management platforms such as AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management, and Databricks cost APIs.
• Strong SQL and analytical skills.
• Working knowledge of the FinOps Foundation framework and the Inform-Optimise-Operate lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Analyse usage and billing data across AWS, Azure, and Databricks to identify optimisation opportunities.
• Maintain an optimisation backlog and track recommendations through to completion.
• Manage Reserved Instances and Savings Plans, including renewal planning.
• Monitor AI/LLM workloads and provide cost optimisation insights.
• Deliver reporting and insights for stakeholders, including dashboards and self-service analytics.
• Track actuals against budgets, explain variances, and support phased forecasts and annual planning commentary.
• Refine cost allocation methods and validate cloud credits.
