Job summary

Strathfield Council is seeking a motivated Financial Systems Accountant to join our Finance team in Sydney. This role provides specialist accounting and systems expertise to optimise the council’s financial systems and reporting.

You will lead system enhancements, testing, data migration and ensure data integrity across ERP platforms while aligning with Australian accounting standards and governance requirements.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline with membership of a recognised professional accounting body (CPA/CA or equivalent) or progress towards membership.
• Demonstrated experience administering and supporting financial management systems in a complex, regulated environment (local government/public sector preferred).
• Strong understanding of financial accounting principles and Australian Accounting Standards.

Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain Council’s financial management and ERP systems, ensuring system security, stability and data integrity.
• Support month-end and year-end processes, including reconciliations, data validation and financial reporting.
• Lead and contribute to ERP enhancements, upgrades and data migration projects.
