The Shift People is recruiting a Financial Operations Manager to lead the finance function in Ballina, Northern Rivers. You will oversee a team of three, manage daily financial operations and provide practical, commercially focused financial advice to senior leadership.

You will drive budgeting, forecasting and reporting, analyse performance, and support business initiatives while ensuring robust controls and governance. Ballina-based role with close collaboration across the organisation.

Qualifications

• Experience in a senior finance or accounting role.
• Strong budgeting, forecasting and reporting skills.
• Experience leading a small finance team.
• Ability to translate financials into meaningful business insights.
• CA/CPA qualifications or equivalent would be highly regarded.

We are partnering with an established commercial organisation in the Northern Rivers to recruit a Financial Operations Manager to join their team in Ballina.

This is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing the day-to-day finance function, leading a team of three direct reports and ensuring the organisation has the financial information, systems and insights needed to make sound commercial decisions.

The Role

Working closely with senior leadership and key stakeholders across the business, you will take ownership of the finance function while providing practical, commercially focused financial advice.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading, supporting and developing a finance team of three
• Overseeing the day-to-day financial operations of the business
• Preparing and reviewing management accounts and financial reporting
• Managing budgeting, forecasting and cash flow
• Monitoring financial performance and identifying trends, risks and opportunities
• Providing meaningful financial analysis to support commercial decision-making
• Ensuring strong financial controls, processes and governance
• Overseeing compliance and statutory reporting requirements
• Working collaboratively with operational leaders across the organisation
• Identifying opportunities to improve systems, processes and reporting
• Supporting senior leadership with financial planning and business initiatives

About You

We are looking for an experienced finance professional who can balance technical capability with a practical and commercial approach.

You will ideally bring:

• Demonstrated experience in a senior finance, financial management or accounting role
• Strong management accounting, budgeting, forecasting and reporting capability
• Experience leading and developing a small finance team
• The ability to analyse financial information and translate it into meaningful business insights
• Strong commercial acumen and an understanding of how finance supports operational performance
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• A proactive, solutions-focused approach
• Relevant tertiary qualifications in accounting, finance or a related discipline
• CA/CPA qualifications or equivalent would be highly regarded
