Job summary

Qualifications

• Degree in Accounting, Finance or Commerce with professional qualification.
• 8+ years in finance or accounting, with leadership experience.
• Full sets of financial statements and tax/compliance knowledge.

Lead the finance function of a high-growth automotive retail group

A well-established automotive retail group is looking for a Financial Controller to take ownership of finance across a multi-site, multi-entity operation. This is a role for a commercially minded finance leader who wants to be part of the business, not just report on it. You’ll work closely with senior leadership and site operators, turning the numbers into decisions that improve profitability, cash and performance.

What the role involves

• Owning financial reporting, consolidation and month-end across multiple entities
• Turning dealership and aftersales performance data into clear commercial insight
• Leading budgeting, forecasting and cash flow planning
• Managing working capital, inventory funding and stock-related financing
• Overseeing payroll, AP/AR, banking and treasury operations
• Ensuring tax, statutory and compliance obligations are met, working with external advisors, auditors and lenders
• Strengthening governance, controls and risk practices
• Improving processes and finance systems to increase accuracy and efficiency
• Building and developing a capable, collaborative finance team across locations

What you’ll bring

• Degree in Accounting, Finance or Commerce, plus CPA or CA (or equivalent senior experience)
• 8+ years in finance or accounting, ideally with some time in a leadership role
• Strong experience preparing full sets of financial statements
• Sound knowledge of Australian tax, payroll and compliance
• Multi-entity or group finance experience
• Sharp analytical skills and the confidence to challenge and influence
