Job summary

Western Truck Group is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join the Toowoomba leadership team. You will govern financial controls, lead a finance team, and partner with senior leaders to drive performance, reporting integrity and governance across multiple sites.

You will lead the general ledger, month-end close, budgeting and forecasting, and ensure compliant reporting under AASB/IFRS. A strategic, hands-on leader with strong commercial insight is essential.

Qualifications

• Tertiary degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Senior finance leadership experience in multi-site operations.
• Strong knowledge of AASB/IFRS, budgeting, and statutory reporting.
• Proven ability to translate financial data into commercial insight.
• Experience with audits, taxation and internal controls.

As we continue to strengthen the business, we are looking for an experienced Financial Controller to join our Toowoomba based leadership team. Reporting to the General Manager of Finance, this senior role will govern financial control across WTG, ensuring the integrity of reporting, compliance, governance and business performance. You will lead an experienced finance team, partner with senior leaders and direct the systems, processes and insights that support informed commercial decision making.

What you’ll lead:

Lead and develop an experienced finance team, setting clear accountabilities, technical standards and performance expectations.

Govern financial controls, delegations and approval frameworks across WTG, ensuring material accounting matters and risks are appropriately reviewed and escalated.

Oversee general ledger and balance sheet integrity, month end and year end close, statutory reporting, budgets, forecasts, cashflow and performance reporting in accordance with AASB/IFRS.

Review and approve key accounting outcomes and provide commercial insight to senior leaders, identifying risks, opportunities and actions that support business performance.

Oversee audit, taxation, OEM reporting, fixed assets and payroll accounting controls, together with truck and dealership accounting outcomes including inventory, floorplan impacts, margins, revenue recognition and stock valuation.

Direct finance system, reporting and process improvements that strengthen automation, standardisation, data integrity and control.

What you’ll bring:

Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.

Senior financial control, governance or finance leadership experience within a complex, multi site or multi branch environment.

Strong technical capability across AASB/IFRS, statutory and management reporting, audit, taxation, compliance, budgeting, forecasting and internal controls.

A confident leadership style, with demonstrated ability to develop teams and build trust with senior stakeholders.

Commercial judgement, analytical strength and the ability to translate financial information into practical business insight.

Advanced ERP system and Microsoft Excel skills, with a strong interest in improving reporting and process efficiency.

The following will be highly regarded:

CA or CPA qualification, or equivalent postgraduate finance, governance or leadership development.

Experience in automotive, dealership, transport, logistics or another multi site operational environment.

Exposure to board, governance, OEM or ESG reporting requirements.
