Job summary

Careers & Candidates is seeking a Financial Controller in Melbourne's CBD to lead a sizeable finance team and drive key change initiatives. The role focuses on robust financial reporting, risk and control improvements, and building stronger process discipline across the department.

You will manage the team, guide change initiatives from planning through execution, and work closely with FP&A and the broader business to provide strategic input and improve performance.

Job description

CBD based and within the commercial services sector, our Client has a strong market presence, which it has maintained for a long period. The business is attractive to join as part of the finance team, as Finance plays a leading role in influencing the direction of the business.

The CFO is looking to employ a Financial Controller who values autonomy and the opportunity to manage the financial accounting side of the finance team. With responsibility for the team, your role will entail managing financial reporting, and also managing change. The finance team needs to have a greater focus on control, structure and process, to better manage risk and to run more efficiently. The change will involve a risk and control review, thru to implementing and testing new structure, controls, reporting etc. Changing culture and mindset and (actual) work practices of the team - and the broader business, as impacted - will be key. Your team will also work closely with the Financial Planning and Analysis function, and have commercial input.

You enjoy managing a large team and getting the best from them. You also enjoy managing change: identifying areas for change; creating the plan; and executing. You understand that taking people on the journey is key - within your team, more broadly in the finance team and also the wider business. You will be CA / CPA qualified.
