Job summary

Harmony Auto is a fast-growing, international automotive group specialising in premium brands. We seek an experienced Financial Controller to lead our Australian finance function across multiple dealership entities and support growth and profitability.

Reporting to the Country Management Team, you will oversee financial management, reporting, compliance, and operational finance for Harmony Auto Australia. This hands-on leadership role requires strong commercial acumen and dealership finance

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or related discipline.
• CPA or CA qualified (or equivalent senior finance leadership experience).
• 8+ years' experience in finance, accounting, or financial management.

Harmony Auto is an international automotive dealership group specialising in premium and luxury vehicle brands.

Since establishing a strategic partnership with BYD in 2023, Harmony Auto has rapidly expanded its dealership network across Australia. With the continued growth of BYD and Denza, we are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead and strengthen our finance function across multiple entities and dealership operations.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the Country Management Team, the Financial Controller will be responsible for overseeing the financial management, reporting, compliance, and operational finance functions across Harmony Auto Australia.

This is a hands‑on leadership role requiring strong commercial acumen, dealership finance experience, and the ability to partner with operational leaders to support business growth and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Leadership & Reporting

• Lead the end-to-end finance function across multiple dealership entities.
• Prepare monthly management reports, consolidated financial statements, and
• business performance analysis.
• Deliver accurate Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow reporting.
• Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior management.

Business Performance & Commercial Support

• Partner with Dealer Principals, General Managers, and Department Managers to improve financial performance.
• Analyse dealership KPIs including sales performance, gross profit, aftersales profitability, inventory performance, and operating expenses.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic business planning.

Cash Flow & Working Capital Management

• Manage cash flow forecasting and working capital requirements.
• Oversee vehicle inventory funding and floorplan facilities.
• Monitor stock ageing, inventory funding costs, and capital utilisation.

Payroll & Finance Operations

• Oversee payroll governance and financial controls.
• Ensure accurate payroll processing, superannuation, PAYG, and employeerelated financial compliance.
• Supervise accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking, reconciliations, and treasury functions.

Tax, Compliance & Risk Management

• Oversee BAS, Payroll Tax, FBT, company tax, and statutory reporting obligations.
• Manage relationships with external accountants, auditors, banks, and regulatory bodies.
• Ensure compliance with Australian accounting standards, taxation legislation, and internal controls.
• Maintain strong governance and risk management practices across all entities.

Systems & Process Improvement

• Lead continuous improvement initiatives across finance processes and reporting.
• Oversee financial system administration, including Xero, Employment Hero, SAP, DMS, and other business systems.
• Drive automation, reporting efficiencies, and data accuracy improvements.

Team Leadership

• Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team across multiple locations.
• Establish clear performance expectations and support professional development.
• Foster a high-performing and collaborative finance culture.

What We're Looking ForRequired

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or related discipline.
• CPA or CA qualified (or equivalent senior finance leadership experience).
• 8+ years' experience in finance, accounting, or financial management.
• Strong experience preparing full sets of financial statements.
• Solid understanding of Australian taxation, payroll, and compliance requirements.
• Experience managing multi-entity financial operations.
• Strong commercial, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Highly Regarded

• Automotive dealership or retail group experience.
• Previous experience as a Financial Controller, Senior Finance Manager, or Dealership Accountant.
• Experience with floorplan financing and inventory management.
• Experience using Xero, SAP, Employment Hero, and Dealer Management Systems (DMS).
• Bilingual Mandarin and English communication skills.
