Job summary

AXR Recruitment & Search is seeking a senior finance leader to own global Record-to-Report standards across a multi-currency footprint. You will design the month-end close, implement controls, and govern R2R execution across offshore SSC and regional teams in a flexible, work-from-home setup.

You’ll drive end-to-end close, oversee continuous improvement, and act as the audit liaison, shaping the global R2R framework from the ground up.

Qualifications

• Senior finance leader with end-to-end Record-to-Report experience across global multi-currency footprint.
• Strong technical controllership and Big 4 audit background with ASX experience and risk awareness.
• Experience operating in a global shared services model influencing outcomes across teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and own global R2R standards: month-end close model, calendar, journals, reconciliations.
• Build and own R2R control framework with evidence, audit trail, testing cadence.
• Provide second-line governance across offshore SSC and regional finance teams.
• Own monthly close end-to-end: calendar, sign-offs, workflows, drive speed and predictability.
• Lead R2R improvement and automation to reduce manual effort.
• Gatekeeper for process and system changes touching close or reconciliations.
• Primary contact for internal audit on R2R findings and root-cause fixes.

Job description

Across dozens of countries, this business ended up with a different reconciliation standard in every location — inconsistent, patchy, risky. This role exists to make Record-to-Report one global process, not fifty local ones. This is a newly created Global R2R Controller role — genuinely flexible on WFH, with a circa $250K package (inclusive of super) plus an STI. You'll join a large, global professional services organisation with a significant offshore shared services footprint, reporting to the Group Financial Controller. Record-to-Report here has never had a single global owner, and this is that role: first-generation standards and a first-generation control framework, built from scratch across a genuinely international, multi-currency footprint.

What the role looks like

• Design and own the global R2R standards — month-end close model and calendar, journal policies, balance sheet reconciliation standards, and intercompany accounting — across a multi-country, multi-currency footprint.
• Build and own the R2R control framework, including key controls, evidence and audit trail requirements, testing cadence, and segregation of duties, as the single source of truth for how R2R is done globally.
• Provide second-line governance and oversight of R2R execution across an offshore shared services centre and regional finance teams — monitor compliance, approve exceptions, and act as final decision-maker on standards.
• Own the monthly close model end to end — calendar, sign-offs, workflows — and drive continuous improvement in close speed and predictability without adding risk.
• Lead the global R2R improvement agenda, including where automation genuinely reduces manual effort, and act as gatekeeper for process and system changes touching close or reconciliations.
• Be the primary point of contact for internal audit on R2R findings, driving root-cause fixes rather than one-off remediation.

• A senior finance leader with genuine end-to-end Record-to-Report experience — not just the reporting half or the reconciliation half, but both, and how they connect.
• Strong technical controllership and big 4 audit background with ASX experience, and with a real understanding of risk, control effectiveness, and balance sheet integrity.
• Experience operating in a global shared services model — you know how to influence outcomes through people who don't report to you.
• Background in a large, complex, international business with multi-currency exposure; experience in engineering services, or project-based services environments is well regarded.
• Comfortable owning an unstructured, self-directed mandate — you'll be defining the job as you go, not following a fixed monthly checklist.
• Hands‑on enough to open a reconciliation and know immediately whether it's right, even though you won't be the one doing them day to day.
