Job summary

Australian Red Cross Lifeblood is seeking a Financial Accounting Lead in Melbourne to direct monthly and yearly financial accounting and reporting, ensuring accuracy and audit readiness. You will provide technical accounting leadership and strengthen controls while guiding a Senior Financial Accountant through peak reporting periods.

You will drive process improvements, collaborate with stakeholders, and support broader finance transformation initiatives across a highly regulated environment.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or related discipline.
• Completed CA, CPA or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
• Experience leading financial accounting, month-end and year-end reporting in a complex organisation.
• Strong knowledge of accounting standards, financial reporting and balance sheet management.
• Experience managing audit deliverables and statutory financial statements.

Responsibilities

• Lead financial accounting processes, including journals, accruals and analyses.
• Oversee general ledger integrity and financial reporting outputs.
• Support statutory financial statements and provide technical accounting guidance on complex matters.
• Oversee balance sheet reconciliations and ensure issue resolution.
• Maintain strong financial controls and data integrity across processes.
• Coordinate inputs for internal and external audits with supporting papers.
• Lead and develop the Senior Financial Accountant during peak periods.
• Provide guidance to finance stakeholders on technical accounting matters.
• Drive process improvements to simplify accounting and improve reporting quality.
• Contribute to broader Financial Governance and finance transformation initiatives.
