Australian Venue Co. is seeking a Financial Accountant to join our Melbourne Finance team.

With 3–4 years’ experience in a Big 4 or mid-tier audit firm or equivalent financial accounting role, you will manage rent accounting, reconciliations and reporting across multiple entities. You will play a key part in month-end and year-end closes, budgeting, statutory reporting and AASB 16 lease accounting, collaborating with Finance, Property, Leasing and Operations to ensure accurate, well-supported

Qualifications

• 3–4 years’ experience in Big 4 or mid-tier audit firm, or a similar financial accounting role.
• Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related discipline.
• Experience with reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, budgeting and variance analysis.
• Experience working with lease, property or operational data.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills, intermediate to advanced level.

Responsibilities

• Prepare operational rent accounting, including reviewing lease data, ledger postings, accruals and prepayments.
• Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations, investigate variances and coordinate resolution of reconciling items.
• Support rent and related-party variance analysis across Finance, Property, Leasing and Operations.
• Prepare annual rent budgets and weekly turnover rent estimates.
• Support half-year and year-end financial reporting and statutory accounts.
• Coordinate information for external audits and reviews.
• Assist with AASB 16 lease calculations and statutory lease schedules.
• Support acquisition accounting calculations as required.
• Prepare capitalised rent entries for venues undergoing brownfield renovations.
• Assist with accounting-to-tax reconciliations and tax provision requirements.
• Apply relevant accounting policies and Australian Accounting Standards.
• Contribute to improvements in finance processes, controls, systems and reporting.
