Job summary

Levande is seeking a Financial Accountant to join our finance team. You will deliver month-end and year-end accounting, manage journals and balance sheet reconciliations, and collaborate with Village Managers to build accurate budgets and forecasts.

Your role will strengthen financial reporting and drive improvements in controls and processes to support residents and communities. You will work with Finance and Village Operations, ensuring compliant reporting and timely delivery of insights.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Commerce, Business, or a related discipline.
• Experience in an Assistant Accountant, Financial Accountant, or similar accounting role.
• Sound knowledge of financial accounting principles, reporting requirements, and compliance obligations.
• Experience administering grants and accounting for grant income and expenditure in accordance with AASB 1058/AASB 15.
• Experience in fixed asset accounting, including asset capitalisation, depreciation, disposals, and asset reporting.
• Strong organisational and time management skills; ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines.
• Well-developed verbal and written communication skills; ability to explain financial information clearly.
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and local government practices knowledge.
• Knowledge of Office of Local Government reporting requirements and local government legislation.

Responsibilities

• Deliver month-end and year-end accounting, journals and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Prepare financial, management and resident-related reports with clear explanations of movements.
• Coordinate annual village operating budgets with Village Managers, testing assumptions and costs.
• Prepare forecasts and investigate variances, identifying risks and opportunities.
• Support tax reconciliations and external audits with accurate calculations and documentation.
• Improve processes and documentation in collaboration with Finance to resolve data quality issues.
