Job summary

Levande is seeking a Financial Accountant to join our team in Sydney, NSW. You will connect financial decisions to community outcomes, partner with Village Managers, and contribute to budgeting, forecasting and robust reporting across multiple sites.

You will deliver month-end and year-end accounting, build insightful reports, and help improve controls and automation while supporting audits and tax reconciliations. This role offers growth within a compassionate retirement living operator.

Qualifications

• A tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
• CA or CPA qualification is required or will be pursued.
• Strong knowledge of accounting standards and financial reporting principles.

Responsibilities

• Deliver month-end and year-end financial accounting and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Prepare financial, management and resident-related reports with clear explanations.
• Coordinate budgets with Village Managers and test assumptions.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, you’ll combine financial accounting with budgeting, forecasting and working directly with Village Managers. You’ll build your understanding of retirement living operations, strengthen reporting and find practical ways to improve how work gets done.

What You Will Be Working On

Your work will bring together accurate financial reporting and an understanding of what drives village performance. You’ll:

• Deliver month-end and year-end accounting, journals and balance sheet reconciliations, investigating discrepancies and resolving outstanding items.
• Prepare financial, management and resident-related reports, explaining key movements and findings clearly.
• Coordinate annual village operating budgets with Village Managers, testing assumptions and understanding planned activities and costs.
• Prepare forecasts and investigate variances, identifying financial risks, opportunities and practical actions.
• Support tax reconciliations and external audits with accurate calculations, schedules and supporting documentation.
• Improve processes and documentation, working with Finance colleagues to resolve historical accounting and data quality issues.

You balance attention to detail with a practical approach to deadlines and working relationships.

You’ll bring:

• A tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline, and CA or CPA qualification.
• Sound knowledge of accounting standards, financial reporting principles and taxation requirements.
• An understanding of budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis.
• The ability to explain financial information clearly to finance and non-finance colleagues.
• Initiative, sound judgement and a commitment to accurate work and continuous improvement.

Experience in a multi-site organisation, retirement living, property or aged care would be valuable, as would familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 or similar ERP systems.
