MARS Recruitment is seeking a Financial Accountant to join an established investment management organisation in Sydney. The role offers broad exposure across financial reporting, fund accounting and a diverse portfolio of listed and unlisted investments.

Candidates from a Big 4 or mid-tier background with asset or investment management exposure are preferred, or those already in financial accounting within financial services seeking a first move into industry. CA/CPA preferred.

Qualifications

• CA or CPA qualification required.
• Big 4 or mid-tier experience at Senior Auditor level.
• Experience with asset management, funds management, or investment businesses.
• Alternatively, proven Financial Accountant experience in financial services.
• Strong understanding of accounting standards, financial statements and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Deliver accurate financial reporting across investment entities and structures.
• Prepare financial statements and support annual statutory reporting.

I'm currently recruiting for a Financial Accountant to join an established investment management organisation, offering broad exposure across financial reporting, fund accounting and a diverse portfolio of listed and unlisted investments.

This role is ideally suited to a Senior Auditor from a Big 4 or mid-tier firm with exposure to Asset Management or Investment Management clients, looking to make their first move into industry. Equally, candidates already working in financial accounting within investment management will be considered too.

The Role:

Working as part of the wider Finance team, you'll be involved in the financial oversight and reporting of a diversified investment portfolio within an established investment management organisation, offering broad exposure across financial reporting, fund accounting and a diverse portfolio of listed and unlisted investments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Delivering accurate financial reporting across a range of investment entities and structures
• Preparing financial statements and supporting the annual statutory reporting process
• Reviewing investment-related transactions, balances and reconciliations
• Monitoring financial information provided by external administrators and service providers
• Supporting the accounting treatment and valuation of different investment products and asset classes
• Assisting with month-end and year-end reporting, including financial controls and reconciliations
• Reviewing investment expenses, fees and other fund-related calculations
• Working with external auditors and responding to technical accounting queries
• Partnering with internal investment and finance teams to provide financial information and analysis
• Contributing to improvements in reporting processes, systems and internal controls

The Requirements:

We're looking for someone with a strong grounding in financial accounting who is keen to develop their career within investment management.

Ideally, you'll bring:

• A CA or CPA qualification.
• Experience within a Big 4 or mid-tier accounting firm, ideally at Senior Auditor level or Assistant Manager.
• Exposure to financial services clients, particularly funds management, asset management, superannuation or investment businesses.
• Alternatively, experience in a Financial Accountant position within financial services.
• A sound understanding of accounting standards, financial statements and reporting requirements.
• An interest in financial markets, investment products and fund structures.
• Strong Excel skills and the ability to work with complex financial information.
• Good communication skills and the confidence to engage with stakeholders across the business.
• A proactive approach and willingness to take ownership of your work.
