Job summary

Downer Energy & Utilities in Sydney is seeking a qualified Financial Accountant to join a collaborative finance team delivering accurate month-end close, statutory reporting and FP&A support across energy and infrastructure sectors.

You will work with OneStream reporting, ERP systems, and internal/external stakeholders to ensure timely financial reporting and continuous process improvements while developing broad financial capability within a large business.

Qualifications

• CPA or CA qualified (or equivalent) with a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or related discipline.
• Experience in accounting or finance roles with exposure to month-end close, reconciliations, financial reporting or audit support activities.
• Strong Excel skills with data validation and reporting file management.
• Exposure to OneStream and ERP systems such as SAP or JDE is highly regarded.
• Proactive and detail-oriented with strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Support month-end close activities, including journals, reconciliations, loading entries and close reporting requirements.
• Prepare and maintain OneStream entries, reconciliations, loader files and supporting schedules for accurate reporting.
• Assist with statutory reporting, audit requests, balance sheet schedules and supporting documentation for stakeholders.
• Maintain reporting, budgeting and forecasting files with data updates, reconciliations and quality checks.
• Contribute to continuous improvement by documenting processes and finance controls.

The opportunity

As a Financial Accountant, you will support the Energy & Utilities Finance team across month-end close, statutory reporting, management reporting, financial planning and analysis (FP&A) support, and finance process activities. Acting as a shared resource across the head office finance team, you will help ensure recurring finance deliverables are completed accurately, on time and with appropriate supporting documentation.

This role offers exposure to a broad range of finance activities, including OneStream reporting, audit support, statutory reporting and management reporting, making it an excellent opportunity for a finance professional looking to further develop their technical and commercial capabilities.

What we’re looking for

• CPA or CA qualified (or equivalent professional accounting qualification) with a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related discipline.
