Job summary

Downer is seeking a Financial Accountant to support the Energy & Utilities Finance team with month-end close, statutory and management reporting, FP&A support, and finance process activities. You will help ensure deliverables are completed accurately and on time with proper documentation.

Exposure to OneStream reporting, audit support and ERP systems (SAP/JDE) is valued. A proactive, detail-oriented professional with strong Excel and organisational skills will fit well within a collaborative

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or related discipline.
• CPA or CA qualification (or equivalent) required or preferred.
• Experience in month-end close, reconciliations, reporting or audit support preferred.
• Strong Excel skills for reconciliations, data validation and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Support month-end close activities including journals and reconciliations.
• Prepare and maintain OneStream entries and schedules for reporting.

Job description

As a Financial Accountant, you will support the Energy & Utilities Finance team across month-end close, statutory reporting, management reporting, financial planning and analysis (FP&A) support, and finance process activities. Acting as a shared resource across the head office finance team, you will help ensure recurring finance deliverables are completed accurately, on time and with appropriate supporting documentation.

This role offers exposure to a broad range of finance activities, including OneStream reporting, audit support, statutory reporting and management reporting, making it an excellent opportunity for a finance professional looking to further develop their technical and commercial capabilities.

What you’ll do

• Support month-end close activities, including journals, reconciliations, clearing entries, data validation and close reporting requirements.
• Prepare and maintain OneStream entries, reconciliations, loader files and supporting schedules to ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Assist with statutory reporting, audit requests, balance sheet schedules and supporting documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
• Maintain reporting, budgeting and forecasting files, including data updates, reconciliations, quality checks and management reporting support.
• Contribute to continuous improvement by maintaining organised working papers, process documentation and finance controls.

What we’re looking for

• CPA or CA qualified (or equivalent professional accounting qualification) with a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related discipline.
• Experience in accounting or finance roles with exposure to month-end close, reconciliations, financial reporting or audit support activities.
• Strong Excel skills, including reconciliations, formulas, data validation and reporting file management.
• Exposure to OneStream and ERP systems such as SAP, JDE or similar will be highly regarded.
• A proactive and detail-oriented professional with strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
