Job summary

Reo Group is seeking a Financial Accountant to join a growing private multi-company group in Adelaide. You will own end-to-end accounting and financial reporting across a portfolio of businesses, with duties spanning month-end, journals, reconciliations and analysis.

You will ideally be a CA or CPA qualified accountant with experience in a commercial, multi-entity environment and strong Excel. This role offers breadth across reporting, controls and year-end activities within a dynamic finance

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end accounting and reporting for a portfolio of businesses.
• Prepare monthly management accounts and financial statements; run journals, accruals and provisions.
• Perform detailed variance analysis on margins, costs, labour, sales and stock.
• Maintain balance sheet reconciliations and fixed asset registers.
• Coordinate intercompany reconciliations, consolidation and elimination entries.
• Support year-end financial statements, audits, budgets and forecasts.
• Drive improvements to finance processes, controls, policies and workpapers.
• Collaborate with operational managers to investigate variances and resolve issues.

THE ORGANISATION

Reo Group is partnering with a growing, privately owned multi-company group to appoint an experienced Financial Accountant. Continued growth has created an opportunity to join the finance team in a broad role with exposure across multiple business units. This is a broad Financial Accountant opportunity with responsibility for the accounting integrity and financial reporting of an allocated portfolio of businesses. You will work across month-end, reconciliations, financial statements, analysis and controls, while also supporting the wider finance team as the group continues to grow.

THE ROLE

Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will take responsibility for the end-to-end accounting and reporting requirements of an allocated portfolio of businesses. You will prepare monthly management accounts and financial statements, complete and review journals, accruals and provisions, and undertake detailed variance analysis across areas including margins, costs, labour efficiency, sales volumes and stock. You will also take ownership of balance sheet reconciliations, maintain fixed asset registers, prepare intercompany reconciliations and support consolidation and elimination entries across the group. The role will contribute to year-end financial statements and audit preparation, as well as budgets and forecasts. There will also be an opportunity to contribute to improvements across finance processes and controls, ensuring accounting policies, procedures and workpapers remain accurate and well documented. You will work with operational managers when required to investigate variances, explain results and resolve accounting issues.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

You will ideally be a CA or CPA qualified accountant with experience gained in a commercial environment. You may already be operating as a Financial Accountant, or have developed strong technical foundations within a mid-tier chartered environment and be looking to broaden your commercial experience. Experience within a complex, multi-entity environment will be highly regarded, alongside strong Excel capability and a sound working knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards. You will be comfortable working with large volumes of financial data, maintaining strong attention to detail and investigating discrepancies through to resolution. You will be methodical, commercially curious and take pride in producing accurate, high-quality work.
