Job summary

Sharp & Carter is seeking a Group Accountant to own the accounting for a portfolio of group businesses, managing month-end close, balance sheet integrity and monthly/ quarterly reporting. The role involves collaboration with transactional teams, budgeting and tax compliance across Australia.

The ideal candidate is CA/CPA qualified (or near completion) with strong financial and management accounting experience, a proactive mindset and the ability to work independently while balancing competing

• Strong financial and management accounting experience
• Experience managing month-end and balance sheet processes
• Sound knowledge of Australian tax and compliance requirements
• Experience with budgeting and forecasting
• Strong Excel and accounting systems capability

Responsibilities

• Take primary accounting ownership for allocated business(es)
• Own month-end close, management reporting and balance sheet integrity
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll with transactional colleagues
• Prepare budgets and forecasts
• Own business-level tax compliance, including BAS, FBT and payroll tax
• Coordinate audit requirements and provide supporting schedules
• Maintain strong financial controls and meet group reporting requirements
• Analayse financial results and provide clear commentary on performance
• Support working capital management including inventory, receivables, payables and cash flow
• Identify and implement improvements across finance processes and systems
• Cross-train across other group businesses to provide coverage and support
• Work collaboratively as part of a broader finance team

Our client is a growing group of specialist businesses backed by an international listed parent. We've been engaged to find their next Group Accountant as they continue to expand their finance function.

About the role

Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, you'll take ownership of accounting for a portfolio of businesses within the group, with responsibility for month-end close, balance sheet integrity and management reporting. You'll also contribute to broader group finance activities, cross-train across other businesses in the group, and provide support and coverage where needed.

This is a hands-on role suited to an experienced accountant who enjoys owning the full accounting cycle and working across a diverse group of businesses.

Key Responsibilities
