Sharp and Carter, Sydney Western Suburbs NSW, is partnering with a national industrial group to appoint an experienced Finance Transformation Lead on a six-month fixed-term contract. The role focuses on owning the Accounting stream within a broader Finance Transformation program to simplify processes and modernise the ERP environment.

• Redesign key Accounting processes with emphasis on month-end close, journals, reconciliations, controls and reducing manual activity.
• Identify and transition activities from Accounting into Shared Services to improve standardisation, ownership and scalability.
• Partner with IT, ERP consultants and Finance stakeholders to optimise system functionality, workflows, automation and system-generated accounting.
• Identify and implement practical automation and AI opportunities to build a scalable Accounting model for growth and M&A.

The Opportunity

We are are partnering exclusively with a large, national industrial group to appoint an experienced Finance Transformation Lead for an initial six-month fixed-term contract. Well-established, this group has grown significantly through acquisition and continues to invest in building scalable systems, processes and operating models to support its next phase of growth.

The Role

Reporting to the Group Financial Controller and working closely with the Transformation Program Manager, this role will take ownership of the Accounting workstream within a broader Finance Transformation program.

This is a hands‑on delivery role focused on materially changing how the Accounting function operates across process, technology and people. The mandate is to simplify and standardise accounting processes, improve month‑end close, reduce manual activity, optimise the ERP environment, transition appropriate activities into Shared Services and identify practical automation and AI opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the Accounting workstream within the broader Finance Transformation program, driving initiatives from design through to implementation and embedding.

About You

You will be an experienced finance transformation professional with strong accounting control knowledge and a demonstrated ability to deliver change.

Ideally, you will bring:

• Significant Finance or Accounting transformation experience, ideally within a complex, multi-entity or acquisitive environment.
• Strong knowledge of end‑to‑end Accounting and Shared Services processes, including month‑end close and process improvement.
• Experience mapping current‑state processes and designing and implementing practical future‑state solutions.
• Strong ERP and Finance systems capability, with experience partnering with IT and consultants to deliver system improvements.
• Practical understanding of automation, AI and emerging Finance technologies, including opportunities to transition and streamline work across Accounting and Shared Services.
