Reporting to the Senior Accountant, this role will assist with Council’s accounts payable activities, including processing invoices, matching purchase orders, coding transactions and assisting with regular payment runs. You will verify documentation and approvals, investigate discrepancies, reconcile supplier statements and maintain accurate creditor records. You will also help protect Council from supplier-related risks, errors, fraud and scam attempts by ensuring key control activities are consistently followed.
The ideal candidate will have Certificate IV qualifications in a discipline relevant to the position. You will have demonstrated practical experience in accounts payable, an understanding of relevant best practices and a proven commitment to delivering excellent customer service. You will be comfortable working collaboratively as part of a team to achieve shared outcomes.
To succeed in the role, you will be organised, accurate and able to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines. You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills and intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Excel. Experience using job costing systems and a high standard of business telephone skills would be an advantage. Your ability to provide clear guidance to Council employees and respond professionally to supplier enquiries will be important to your success in the role.
