Transurban is seeking a commercially minded Finance Partner in Melbourne or Sydney to partner with the Technology business and drive strategic financial decision‑making. This role focuses on delivering financial insight, influencing investments and ensuring robust planning for major projects and initiatives.

The role is a 12-month fixed term opportunity, offering exposure to a dynamic, cross-functional environment and the chance to influence outcomes across the enterprise.

Qualifications

CA/CPA qualified with proven experience in commercial finance or business partnering.
Experience partnering with technology or similar business units preferred.
Ability to translate financial data into clear, actionable insights.

Responsibilities

Partner with senior leaders within the Technology teams to deliver strategic finance support and guidance.
Manage and lead budgeting and forecasting cycles for technology streams, reviewing key assumptions.
Identify cost optimisation opportunities and manage financial risks and opportunities.
Advise stakeholders with financial insights to support decision-making.
Develop financial and pricing models to support strategic initiatives and negotiations.
Support corporate cost recovery to assets and joint ventures and oversee Opex/Capex spend.
Collaborate with Reporting, Forecasting, and Analytics to deliver ad hoc financial insights.

Job description

We're seeking a commercially minded Finance Partner based in Melbourne or Sydney to partner with the Technology business and drive strategic financial decision-making across a dynamic and evolving business.

You’ll join an innovative team, who work collaboratively across functions to solve problems, challenge thinking and continuously improve how the business delivers value.

As our Finance Partner, you'll play a key role in shaping commercial outcomes by providing strategic financial insight, influencing investment decisions, and ensuring robust financial planning supports business operations, major projects and strategic initiatives.

** Note: This is a 12-month Fixed Term opportunity **

Day-to-day, you will:

Partner with senior leaders within the Technology teams to deliver strategic finance support and guidance
Manage and lead the budgeting and forecasting cycle for certain streams within Technology, while reviewing and challenging key assumptions and addressing adverse cost positions.
Identify cost optimisation opportunities and proactively manage financial risks and opportunities, providing recommendations to improve performance.
Influence and advise stakeholders by translating financial data into clear, actionable insights to support decision-making.
Develop and maintain financial and pricing models (including scenario analysis and business cases) to support business and strategic initiatives, commercial negotiations (RFPs, contract renewals).
Provide advice that aligns with financial/commercial and Enterprise objectives
Partner with stakeholders to drive successful commercial outcomes on corporate cost recovery to Transurban's assets and joint ventures, in line with the principles of MSAs
Oversee and analyse expenditure (Opex and Capex) and monitor benefit realisation, partnering with project managers and business owners to support delivery.
Collaborate with the Reporting, Forecasting, and Analytics team to deliver ad hoc financial reporting and insights that support tactical business decisions.

This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferable skills and experiences, including:

Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence at senior levels
CA/CPA qualified with proven experience in commercial finance or business partnering roles, ideally within large, complex organisations
Experience working with or supporting joint ventures or complex stakeholder environments
Budgeting and forecasting skills and the ability to identify and analyse key business drivers
Advanced analytical and financial modelling skills, with strong attention to detail
Ability to operate in fast-paced, ambiguous environments and manage competing priorities
A proactive and curious mindset, with the confidence to challenge and drive better business outcomes across all levels of the organisation
