Job summary

City of Salmon Arm is seeking an experienced Supervisor of Financial Operations to lead frontline Finance services, ensure accurate billing and receivables, and coach Accounting Clerks and Customer Service Representatives.

Reporting to the Deputy Chief Financial Officer, the role emphasizes fiscal integrity, process improvements, and collaboration across departments. This full-time position offers a competitive wage and employee benefits.

Qualifications

• University degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or related field.
• CPA designation is required or preferred.
• Minimum four years' experience in municipal/public-sector finance or a related field.
• Minimum three years' supervisory experience, preferably in a unionized environment.
• Advanced computer skills with MS Office and municipal accounting software.

Responsibilities

• Plan, assign, prioritize, coordinate, and review the daily work of Accounting Clerks and Customer Service Representatives.
• Ensure timely, accurate, and customer-focused delivery of property-tax and utility billing, payment processing, cash receipting, accounts payable and receivable, and related services.
• Monitor workloads, deadlines, service levels, and transaction accuracy, including peak periods.
• Provide direct supervision, coaching, training, and first-level performance management, including recruitment and onboarding.
• Review financial work for accuracy and compliance with procedures and internal controls.
• Coordinate budgeting, month-end, year-end, audit, and financial-system improvements, in collaboration with senior staff.
• Work with Deputy CFO and other departments to improve efficiency, data quality, and staff capacity.
