Job summary

Buxton Geelong Group is seeking an experienced Finance Officer to join the team in a full-time, hands-on role focusing on payroll and accounts payable across seven offices.

In a fast-paced environment, you will manage competing deadlines, maintain payroll records, and support monthly and quarterly financial reporting. A flexible, hybrid working arrangement with some work-from-home opportunities is provided.

Qualifications

• Experience in a Finance Officer, Payroll, Accounts Payable or bookkeeping role.
• Strong payroll and accounts payable experience.
• Experience managing a high volume of financial transactions.
• Proficiency in Xero or similar accounting software, with Xero experience highly regarded.
• Sound understanding of payroll, BAS, GST, superannuation and payroll tax.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a broader team.
• Experience with Microkeeper and Weel will be advantageous but is not essential.

Responsibilities

• Process fortnightly and monthly payroll accurately and on time.
• Maintain employee payroll records.
• Prepare superannuation and payroll tax obligations.
• Respond to payroll-related queries.
• Process a high volume of supplier invoices.
• Complete bank and account reconciliations.
• Maintain accurate supplier records.
• Assist with monthly and quarterly Activity Statements.
• Assist with Payroll Tax and superannuation requirements.
• Assist with EOFY processes, reconciliations and preparation for external accountants.
• Assist with monthly and quarterly financial reporting.
• Assist with ad hoc finance projects and reporting as required.
