Job summary

Benmax is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to lead the finance function of our service business across the ACT and the Newcastle/Hunter Region.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will take ownership of day-to-day finance operations and the month-end close, lead the team responsible for accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll, and act as the principal financial adviser to the leadership team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Accounting, Commerce, Finance or related discipline.
• CA ANZ or CPA Australia qualification with current membership.
• Seven years' accounting experience, including three years as a Finance Manager or in an equivalent senior role.
• Experience leading an AP, AR and payroll team, and owning month-end close and management reporting in a mid-sized business.
• Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and revenue recognition for service and contract work.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day finance operations across accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, banking and cash management.
• Managing, coaching and developing the AP, AR and payroll team.
• Owning the month-end close, from journals and reconciliations through to WIP, revenue recognition and the monthly reporting pack.
• Presenting monthly results, variance analysis and commentary to the leadership team.
• Leading the annual budget, periodic forecasts and cash flow forecasting.
• Managing debtor collections and creditor payments to protect working capital and supplier relationships.
• Ensuring compliance across BAS, PAYG withholding, superannuation, payroll tax, FBT and workers compensation.
• Running the year-end and external audit process with auditors, tax advisers, banks and insurers.
• Maintaining internal controls, delegations of authority and finance policies, and improving how our finance processes and systems run.
• Overseeing job costing, contract billing and margin reporting and supporting Group finance with intercompany, consolidation and reporting.
