Job summary

Ambition Recruitment in Sydney is seeking a hands-on Finance Manager to join three days a week as the senior finance lead reporting to the Managing Director. You’ll own financial control, compliance and the fortnightly contingent pay cycle across NSW, QLD and ACT.

You’ll oversee month-end close, budgeting, payroll tax, BAS and external audits, while mentoring the Accounts Assistant and improving systems. This is a practical, end-to-end finance role in a small-to-mid-size business.

Qualifications

• CPA or CA qualification is essential.
• Hands-on experience in a small to mid-size business is required.
• Experience with contingent pay cycles, debtor finance or audits is preferred.
• Recruitment or labour-hire background is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Leading financial control, including month end close, cash flow and monthly reporting.
• Preparing budgets and tracking actuals vs forecast with variance commentary for the MD.
• Producing monthly commission reports.

We're recruiting for a Sydney recruitment business that needs a hands on Finance Manager 3 days a week. You'll be the senior finance person and the one the Managing Director relies on for accurate numbers. It's not a role where you'll be stuck in one narrow area. You'll be across financial control, compliance, a fortnightly contingent pay cycle and how the whole finance function runs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Leading financial control, including month end close, cash flow and monthly reporting


• Preparing budgets and tracking actuals against forecast, with variance commentary the Managing Director can use


• Producing monthly commission reports


• Lodging payroll tax and BAS


• Coordinating external audits and government reporting across NSW, QLD and ACT, including Scheme 0007, Scheme 012 and GGCS0060 panels


• Managing insurances, WHS and workers compensation


• Overseeing the fortnightly pay cycle for 100+ contractors and contingent staff, including super


• Mentoring the Accounts Assistant, who looks after contractor pay and is keen to grow


• Improving processes and systems as the business evolves

What We're Looking For:

• CPA or CA qualified


• Hands on experience in a small to mid size business, not just oversight


• Contingent pay cycle, debtor finance or audit experience


• Recruitment or labour hire background is a plus


• MYOB experience preferred, plus exposure to Astute, JobAdder, Employment Hero and Dext


• Articulate and professional, with the confidence to represent the business to consultants and clients


• Consistent and dependable
