Job description

Ready for a finance role that gets you closer to the action?

Pacific Marine Group (PMG) is looking for an experienced Finance Manager to lead the finance function across a diverse, project-driven business operating throughout Australia and the Pacific.

Based in Townsville and reporting to the General Manager, this isn't a role focused on simply producing the numbers. We're looking for someone who understands what the numbers are telling us, can challenge thinking where needed and turn financial information into better business decisions.

What you'll be doing
  • Lead and develop the finance team, strengthening financial governance and accountability across the business.
  • Drive budgets, forecasts, cash flow management and meaningful financial reporting.
  • Partner with operational and project leaders to improve financial performance and support informed decision-making.
  • Provide financial insight to support project performance, major tenders and business planning.
  • Manage banking, funding, working capital and key external financial relationships.
  • Oversee audit, taxation, insurance and statutory compliance requirements.
  • Support financial management across PMG's operations in PNG and the wider Pacific.
  • Identify opportunities to improve finance systems, reporting and processes.
What we're looking for

You're an experienced Accountant or Finance Manager who is commercially minded, confident with people and comfortable working in a hands-on operational environment.

Ideally, you'll bring:

  • Strong financial and commercial acumen.
  • Experience in a project-based business such as construction, marine, civil, engineering or infrastructure.
  • Proven leadership experience
  • Confidence partnering with senior and operational leaders, providing financial advice and challenging assumptions when required.
  • Strong experience across financial reporting, forecasting, cash flow management and business performance.
  • Experience managing banking relationships, including funding arrangements, financing facilities and associated financial obligations.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification, with CA/CPA or equivalent highly regarded.
  • International or multi-entity experience, particularly involving PNG or the Pacific, would be an advantage.
Why PMG?

This is an opportunity to step into a broad and influential finance role where you'll have visibility across the business, work directly with senior decision-makers and play a genuine part in shaping PMG's future.

With diverse projects, operations across Australia and the Pacific, and plenty of opportunity to make an impact, this is a role for someone who enjoys being involved in the bigger picture.

If you're looking for something broader than a traditional accounting role, we'd love to hear from you.
