Job description

We're looking for a commercially minded Finance Manager to own the day-to-day financial health of the business and act as a true partner to leadership. This is a hands-on, analytical role: as much about building models, testing scenarios, and reporting on the numbers that matter as it is about keeping the books in order. It's a part-time role suited to someone who enjoys turning data into insight in a scaling company and wants meaningful, flexible work. You'll manage our bookkeeper and work closely with our tax accountant and Fractional CFO, acting as the connective tissue between operational finance and strategic decision-making.

About the role

We're looking for a commercially minded Finance Manager to own the day-to-day financial health of the business and act as a true partner to leadership. This is a hands-on, analytical role: as much about building models, testing scenarios, and reporting on the numbers that matter as it is about keeping the books in order. It's a part-time role suited to someone who enjoys turning data into insight in a scaling company and wants meaningful, flexible work. You'll manage our bookkeeper and work closely with our tax accountant and Fractional CFO, acting as the connective tissue between operational finance and strategic decision-making.

What you’ll do
  • Financial modelling — Build and maintain financial models to support planning, pricing, and growth decisions
  • Unit economics & pricing — Analyse margin by product and merchant segment, including interchange, scheme, and acquirer costs, to inform pricing and least-cost routing decisions
  • Scenario planning — Run scenario and sensitivity analysis (e.g. transaction volumes, growth rates, cost changes) to inform strategy and manage risk
  • KPI reporting — Define, track, and report on the KPIs that matter, delivering clear dashboards and commentary to leadership
  • Investor & board reporting — Prepare board and investor packs and supporting analysis for the CFO, and assist with due diligence and data-room preparation as needed
  • Forecasting & budgeting — Build and maintain cash flow forecasts and budgets with the CFO to support sustainable growth
  • Treasury & cash management — Monitor daily cash positions, settlement timing, and any funds held on behalf of merchants, supporting the CFO on liquidity and banking
  • Management reporting — Own month-end close and produce timely, accurate management accounts
  • Team — Manage and review the work of our bookkeeper, ensuring accurate and timely records
  • Tax & compliance — Review BAS/GST, payroll, PAYG withholding, and superannuation lodgements prepared by the bookkeeper, and liaise with our external tax accountant on compliance, filings, year-end preparation, and R&D Tax Incentive claims where eligible
  • Payment & fund flows — Oversee reconciliation of merchant settlements, payment and donation flows, refunds, chargebacks, and scheme and acquirer fees, and monitor fraud and chargeback losses
  • Profit-share & impact reporting — Own the calculation, governance, and transparent reporting of the 50% profit distribution to the arts community, with a clear, consistent, audit-ready methodology
  • Operational finance — Manage accounts payable/receivable and payment workflows, including partner and referral commission payouts
  • Controls & process — Strengthen financial controls, processes, and systems as we scale, including automating reconciliations, integrating platform transaction data with our accounting system, and maintaining audit readiness
  • Regulatory & partner reporting — Prepare the financial data and reports needed to met regulatory and payment-partner obligations (e.g. AUSTRAC AML/CTF, card scheme and acquirer requirements, as applicable), working with leadership and external advisers
About you
  • Qualified accountant (CA / CPA or equivalent) or qualified by experience

  • Solid experience in a finance management or senior finance role

  • Comfortable running day-to-day finance in a small or scaling business

  • Experience supervising and reviewing the work of a bookkeeper or junior finance staff

  • Hands‑on experience running month‑end close and designing financial controls and process improvements

  • Experience reconciling high-volume transactional data, with strong attention to detail and accuracy

  • Sound working knowledge of Australian tax and compliance obligations, including GST/BAS, PAYG withholding, superannuation, and payroll

  • Strong financial modelling skills and advanced Excel - comfortable building models from scratch

  • Proven experience with scenario planning, forecasting, and KPI / management reporting

  • Confident working with cloud accounting software (e.g. Xero), systems, AI and other technology

  • A commercial mindset - able to translate numbers into clear, actionable insight for non-finance colleagues

  • Self-directed and reliable — able to deliver in a part-time, remote setting
