Pymble Golf Club is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to lead the Club’s financial operations and Finance team. Reporting to the General Manager, you will manage financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow and governance while advising the Board.

The role requires a professional with strong leadership, strategic thinking and a track record in delivering practical financial improvements. NorthStar experience and CPA qualifications are advantageous.

Pymble Golf Club is a private Members golf club located in St Ives on Sydney’s North Shore. The Club operates an 18 hole golf course, Clubhouse, dining and function facilities.

Our Finance team supports all areas of the Club, providing accurate financial information and practical advice to support daily operations and long term planning.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Finance Manager to lead the Club’s financial operations and Finance team.

Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will oversee financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow and financial controls. You will work closely with Department Managers and provide clear financial analysis and recommendations to the General Manager, Finance and Risk Committee and Board.

This is a full time position suited to someone who enjoys taking responsibility, developing a team and identifying practical ways to improve financial performance.

Key Responsibilities

This is a hands on leadership role requiring direct involvement in the Club’s daily financial operations, alongside responsibility for leading and supporting the Finance team.

Lead the annual operating and capital budget process with the General Manager, coordinating input from Department Managers and maintaining financial forecasts.

Oversee monthly management accounts, Board financial reports and annual accounts, providing clear analysis and recommendations.

Work with Department Managers to review results, explain budget variances and identify actions to improve performance.

Lead and develop the Finance team, overseeing payroll, accounts, reconciliations and the financial administration of membership subscriptions.

Maintain effective financial controls and oversee accounting, taxation and statutory obligations, including GST, BAS, payroll tax and superannuation.

Coordinate the annual audit and work with external auditors and advisers on financial reporting and taxation matters.

Manage cash flow and banking arrangements, and support financial modelling, capital expenditure planning and the assessment of major projects.

Improve financial systems, reporting and processes, including the effective use of NorthStar.

Oversee the financial administration of the outsourced Pro Shop arrangement and provide financial reporting for the Pymble Golf Club Foundation in accordance with its separate Board’s governance arrangements.

Manage the external IT provider and oversee IT systems, security and access controls, together with insurance renewals, coverage reviews and claims, in consultation with the General Manager.

About You

We are looking for someone with sound financial judgement, strong leadership skills and the ability to turn financial information into clear, practical advice.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field. CA or CPA qualifications are desirable.

Extensive finance or accounting experience, including proven experience as a Finance Manager or in a comparable senior management role.

Strong skills in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management and financial analysis.

Experience leading and developing a Finance team.

Sound knowledge of accounting principles, financial controls and statutory obligations.

Advanced Excel skills and experience using financial systems. Experience with NorthStar would be an advantage.

Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with Department Managers, senior management and the Board.

A proactive and organised approach, with a high level of integrity, attention to detail and commitment to continuous improvement.
