Job summary

Townley Drop Forge Pty Ltd in Coburg North, VIC, is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to oversee day-to-day finance and administration, reporting to the GM and Board. The role is hands-on and requires payroll processing using MYOB AccountRight and strong accounting skills.

You will lead month-end close, budgeting, forecasting, inventory control, payroll tax, BAS, AP/AR, and collaborate with external accountants and advisers.

Qualifications

• CA or CPA qualified Finance Manager or Financial Controller with at least five years’ post-qualification experience.
• Strong commercial acumen and solid technical accounting skills.
• Hands-on approach and ability to work with GM and Board.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts, budgets, forecasts and Board reporting.
• Manage inventory, WIP and product costing.
• Process and manage end-to-end payroll using MYOB AccountRight.
• Manage BAS, payroll tax, superannuation and other statutory obligations.
• Oversee AP, AR, banking and cash requirements.
• Lead the ongoing use and development of Acumatica.
• Coordinate external accountants, banks, insurers, IT providers and advisers.

About the Role:

The Finance Manager is a senior, hands-on role supporting our General Manager and working closely with the Board, with responsibility for the day-to-day management and delivery of Townley’s finance and administration functions. In addition to overseeing the broader finance function, you will personally undertake key accounting and reporting activities including month-end, management reporting and payroll.

Key Accountabilities:

Take ownership of the finance function and deliver accurate, timely reporting to the GM and Board;

Lead the month-end close and provide meaningful financial and commercial insight;

Manage cash flow, working capital and key financial controls;

Manage and support our Office Manager; and

Support the GM and Board across broader commercial, administrative and governance matters.

Key Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate:

You will be a CA or CPA qualified Finance Manager or Financial Controller with at least five years’ relevant post-qualification experience, ideally within an SME environment.

You will bring strong commercial acumen, solid technical accounting skills and a genuinely hands-on approach. Manufacturing experience, particularly across inventory, WIP and product costing, will be highly regarded.

You will also be a confident communicator with sound judgement, strong attention to detail and the ability to work effectively with the GM, Board and broader business.
