Job summary

Hilltops Council is seeking an experienced Manager Finance to lead its finance function and act as Council’s Principal Accounting Officer. The role oversees budgeting, financial reporting, rating, investments and statutory reporting using TechOne systems.

You will manage a multi-disciplinary team, work with the Executive Team and Council, present financial information clearly, and help shape the Long-Term Financial Plan to support a growing regional council and community needs.

Qualifications

• Degree in Accountancy with membership or ability to obtain
• Local government accounting experience preferred
• Sound knowledge of budgeting, rating, funding mechanisms, capital management, asset valuation and management reporting
• Proven experience leading and developing multi-disciplinary teams across finance services
• Strong relationships with government agencies, industry and community

Responsibilities

• Lead the finance function and act as Principal Accounting Officer
• Oversee year-end audit, Grants Commission returns and external audit
• Develop and implement the Long-Term Financial Plan and manage financial risk
• Present financial information to Council and Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee
