Job summary

Hilltops Council is seeking an experienced Manager Finance to lead its finance function and act as Council's Principal Accounting Officer. The role will oversee budgeting, accounting, rating, investments, and statutory reporting, including the annual financial statements and external audit, supported by TechOne systems.

You will lead a multi-disciplinary team, partner with Council and the Audit Committee, and explain complex numbers in plain language while shaping the Long-Term Financial Plan

Qualifications

• Degree in Accountancy and/or recognised professional qualification.
• Membership of CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of Local Government Code of Accounting Practice and Australian Accounting Standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead budgeting, financial and management accounting, rating, investments, FBT and GST.
• Oversee statutory reporting, including annual financial statements and Grants Commission returns.
• Present financial information to Council and Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee in clear terms.
• Develop and guide the finance team to deliver accurate and timely reports.
