Australian Men's Shed Association – Newcastle NSW
3–4 days per week (negotiable) | Hybrid | Newcastle-based | Permanent part-time
Where good people build communities, shoulder to shoulder.
The Australian Men's Shed Association is the national body supporting more than 1,300 Men's & Community Sheds across Australia, helping build stronger, more connected communities and improving the health and wellbeing of men.
Following the retirement of our long-serving Finance Manager, we're looking for an experienced finance professional to join our Executive Team and build on the strong foundations already in place.
This is an opportunity to bring your expertise to an established national not-for-profit, contribute to its continued growth and development, and enjoy the flexibility and work-life balance of a three to four-day working week.
As Finance & Compliance Manager, you'll take responsibility for AMSA's financial management, reporting and compliance, providing sound financial oversight and advice to support the organisation's ongoing operations and future direction.
As a member of our Executive Team, you'll work closely with the Executive Officer, GM – Operations & Impact and Board to support informed decision-making and long-term financial sustainability.
You'll inherit a well-functioning finance operation and have the opportunity to bring your own experience and perspective to the role. It's a position that combines strategic thinking with hands‑on financial management, where sound judgement, attention to detail and a practical approach are equally valued.
Permanent part-time, 3 to 4 days per week (negotiable)
Hybrid working arrangement, based in Newcastle, NSW
Competitive salary with not-for-profit salary packaging benefits available
A senior position with genuine opportunity to contribute to organisational development
Good financial management makes good community work possible.
You'll help AMSA make informed decisions, meet its obligations and use its resources effectively. Your expertise will contribute to the financial integrity, accountability and sustainability of an organisation supporting communities across Australia.
You're an experienced finance professional who enjoys being involved in the bigger picture, but is equally comfortable getting into the detail.
You understand the importance of sound financial governance and accountability, and you know how to make financial information useful to people who aren't accountants.
You'll bring:
Just as importantly, you're someone who enjoys working with others, values different perspectives and can contribute to a small team where everyone plays a part.
You don't need to know the Men's Shed movement when you arrive, but we'd love you to be interested in the communities and people behind the work.
Flexibility that works for life
We trust people to manage their time, focus on outcomes and get the job done. We recognise that life exists outside work and genuinely value flexibility.
A team that shows up
We're a small team with good people, plenty of banter and a strong sense of camaraderie. We back each other, share the load and work shoulder to shoulder.
Purpose you can feel
Our work supports real people and communities across Australia. You'll be part of something that makes a difference beyond the office.
