Job summary

ALS Environmental is seeking a full-time Field Technician to join the Chinchilla-based team. The role involves field sampling, data entry, and equipment maintenance across Surat and Bowen Basin regions, with extensive on-the-job training including first aid and defensive driving courses.

The role

ALS Environmental is offering a unique opportunity for a full-time Field Technician to join our Chinchilla-based team. This is a key role supporting high-profile CSG clients and is ideally suited to a motivated individual with a strong willingness to learn. In return, you’ll benefit from comprehensive on-the-job training, including first aid certification, defensive 4WD driving courses, and hands‑on experience with our testing methods, sampling protocols, and client reporting systems. The successful applicant will be based in Chinchilla and is responsible for completing field sampling services within the Surat and Bowen Basin regions.

Day to Day
  • Driving light vehicles with various specialised field monitoring equipment
  • Inputting important information to various data platforms
  • Monitoring and maintaining equipment (both hardware and software)
  • Maintaining and building on relationships with Land Access supervisors, Field Superintendents and Area Owners
  • Complying with specific Land Access Rules

Secondary tasks will include but are not limited to:

  • CSG water and gas sampling
  • Potable water sampling
  • Water Treatment Plant sampling
  • Environmental sampling
  • Permit creation and management
  • Identifying opportunities with our Client Services team to expand or improve our Client services and scope where applicable from your on the ground observations and insights.
About you
  • A current manual driver’s license
  • Field experience in the CSG Industry is desired but not essential
  • Industry Safety Induction for the CSG Industry or equivalent desired but not essential
  • Personal/Mechanical Isolation experience desired but not essential
  • Experience in work permit creation and management desired but not essential
  • Strong communication skills
  • Good written and verbal ability, and rapport building strength to nurture strong relationships with clients
  • Good organisational skills
  • Local knowledge of the Darling Downs, Surat and Bowen Basin regions is desired but not essential
  • A ‘can do’ attitude
The successful applicant will be provided extensive training and orientation.

The standard working days are Monday to Friday, 6am to 2:30pm.

This is an excellent opportunity for a self‑motivated person with strong communication skills to work independently, build client relationships and grow a successful career with ALS.

The position may require working over weekends and staying in remote camps from time to time.
