Job summary

Peoplebank is seeking a Field Systems Integration Engineer - Radar & Defence Systems to join our client’s Engineering team in Canberra. This permanent, full-time role involves integrating radar systems into Defence C4ISR, testing, commissioning and providing ongoing field support across Australia and occasional US locations.

The successful candidate will have a background in electronics or related engineering, experience with complex systems integration, and the ability to work with Defence

• Experience troubleshooting radar, communications, networking or mission systems.
• Understanding of military Mission Systems and Defence C4ISR environments.
• Ability to plan workflows, manage priorities and meet deadlines.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel 10–12 weeks per year to Australian and US field locations.
• Australian citizenship and eligibility to maintain an NV1 security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Support integration, testing, commissioning and ongoing support of radar systems in fielded environments and integration facility.
• Integrate radar systems into Defence C4ISR infrastructure and configure network infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot hardware, systems, networking and interfaces for radar systems.
• Plan and execute system integration and test activities ensuring safe operation.
• Support system trials and field deployments as required.
• Collaborate with internal teams, Defence personnel, suppliers and stakeholders to meet timelines.
• Serve as SME for system commissioning and field support.
• Produce test reports and Defence-compliant documentation.
• Undertake training to stay up-to-date with client products and field support needs.
• Ensure activities comply with security, safety, quality policies.

About The Role

Our Client is seeking a Field Systems Integration Engineer - Radar & Defence Systems to join their Engineering team in Canberra. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity, based in Canberra, with approximately 10-12 weeks of travel per year across Australian and US field locations.

As The Selected Candidate, You Will

• Support the integration, testing, commissioning and ongoing support of advanced radar systems in fielded environments and within the client's integration facility.
• Integrate radar systems into Defence C4ISR infrastructure, including supporting the setup and configuration of appropriate network infrastructure.
• Undertake advanced radar-specific troubleshooting and fault finding across hardware, systems, networking and interfaces.
• Plan and execute system integration and test activities, ensuring systems are operating safely and effectively.
• Support system trials and field deployments as required.
• Work closely with internal engineering teams, Defence personnel, suppliers and other external stakeholders to resolve technical issues and achieve project timelines.
• Act as a technical subject matter expert for system commissioning, set-to-work and ongoing field support.
• Produce accurate test reports, technical documentation and other system documentation in accordance with Defence protocols.
• Undertake training and upskilling to maintain knowledge of the client's products, systems and field support requirements.
• Ensure all activities comply with security, safety, quality and organisational policies and procedures.

To Be Successful In This Role You Should Have

• Experience in systems integration, field support, commissioning, test and/or operational support of complex technical systems.
• A background in electronics, electrical engineering, computer science, networking, cyber security or equivalent operational experience.
• Experience troubleshooting complex electronic, radar, communications, networking or mission systems.
• Sound understanding of military Mission Systems and/or Defence C4ISR environments.
• Demonstrated ability to organise workflows, manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes within defined timelines.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary engineering teams, with customers, suppliers and Defence personnel.
• Willingness and ability to travel approximately 10-12 weeks per year to Australian and US field locations.
• Australian citizenship and eligibility to maintain an NV1 security clearance.

It Is Desirable If You Have

• Previous experience working with military radar systems or other advanced sensor systems.
• Experience integrating radar or sensor systems into C4ISR architectures.
• Experience with RF, telecommunications, networking or electronic systems.
• Experience working within Defence or the defence industry.
• Experience supporting system trials, field deployments or operationally deployed systems.
• Relevant engineering or technical qualifications.
• Previous experience working in environments subject to ITAR requirements.

Due to security clearance requirements for this role, candidates must be Australian citizens with an NV1 security clearance.
