Job summary

NextGenEnergyJobs is seeking a highly motivated Field Service Technician to support commissioning, service, and lifecycle performance of advanced power electronics systems. The role involves on-site installation, testing, troubleshooting, and performance optimization across SFCs, VFDs, transformers and switchgear.

You will travel domestically and internationally as needed, provide customer training, generate safety and service reports, and work with PLCs and data acquisition tools.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification or degree in electrical engineering.
• Strong hands-on technical skills in power electronics and electrical systems.
• Experience with medium-voltage equipment and harmonic analysis.
• Strong English communication (verbal & written).
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-commissioning, commissioning, servicing, and troubleshooting of SFCs, VFDs, low/medium-voltage drives, switchgear, transformers, and power systems.
• Provide technical guidance to customers during installation and service activities.
• Analyze operational data on-site and instruct customers and site personnel.
• Deliver timely reports on safety, project status, customer concerns, equipment issues and failures.
• Provide on-site training on operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of equipment.
• Support Quality with root cause analyses and reporting of malfunctions.
• Complete site documentation including safety reports, checklists, and commissioning records.
• Perform hands-on replacement, testing, verification, and troubleshooting of electrical equipment in the field.
• Adhere to HSE policies and work safely to protect personnel and equipment.
• Interface effectively with customers, contractors, colleagues and management.
