Job summary

Smiths Group Australia is seeking a skilled tradesperson to join our field service team. You will strip, assess, repair and test mechanical seals and related equipment, schedule repairs, and prepare quotations while maintaining documentation and QA standards.

You will also conduct root-cause analyses, provide troubleshooting guidance with engineering staff, mentor colleagues, and support sales and site visits across Oil & Gas and mining sites.

Qualifications

• Ability to take responsibility and be accountable for actions to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Fitter/Turner or Machinist by Trade.
• Capable of achieving objectives and delivering results
• Be able to support and mentor colleagues when necessary.
• Ability to apply CI techniques in the workplace processes and work with continuous improvement programs.

Responsibilities

• Strip, assess, repair and test mechanical seals, couplings and associated equipment.
• Ensure consistent and timely completion of service related documentation.
• Schedule jobs for repair.
• Complete inspection and test plans meeting corporate compliance standards.
• Support engineering in specifying materials for seals for unusual duties.
• Prepare repair quotations and related documentation.
• Maintain document control systems.
• Assist in root cause analysis investigations.
• Offer troubleshooting advice and reliability solutions with technical personnel.
• Collaborate with sales and technical support to generate opportunities.
• Arrange and attend client visits (Oil & Gas & Mine sites).
• Develop and maintain systems and computer skills as required.
• Conduct training for internal and external stakeholders.
• Complete periodic reporting as agreed with management.

• Consistent and timely completion of Service related documentation
• Scheduling of jobs for repair
• Complete inspection and test plans consistent with meeting the required corporate compliance standards
• Collect background operational detail required in order to support engineering assistance in specifying materials for seals for unusual duties or duties not quoted previously
• Prepare repair work quotations and associated documentation
• Work with document control systems
• Assist in root cause analysis investigations
• Offer troubleshooting advice and reliability solutions in conjunction and collaboration with company technical personnel as required
• Work with sales and technical support staff in generating business opportunities
• Arrange and attend client visits as required (Oil & Gas & Mine sites).
• Development and maintenance of systems and Computer skills as required
• Conduct training for internal and external stakeholders as required
• Complete periodic reporting requirements as agreed with management
