Job summary

William Adams Pty Ltd in Wodonga is seeking an experienced Field Service Diesel Technician to diagnose, repair and maintain Caterpillar equipment on customer sites across the region. Travel and overnight stays are a regular part of the role, offering autonomy and variety.

You'll work across engines, hydraulics, powertrain, transmissions and electrical systems, reporting to the Service Supervisor and building strong customer relationships while delivering safe, quality workmanship on-site.

Qualifications

• Caterpillar experience highly desirable.
• Experience providing field service to heavy equipment.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding abilities.
• Customer-focused with good communication skills.
• Willingness to travel and stay away overnight.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair Caterpillar equipment and components on customer sites.

We're looking for an experienced Field Service Diesel Technician to join our Wodonga team, supporting our customers. If you enjoy working independently, solving technical problems and getting out where the machines are, this could be the opportunity you're looking for.

Reporting to the Service Supervisor, you'll diagnose, repair and maintain Caterpillar equipment directly on customer sites throughout the region. This is a role that offers genuine variety, autonomy and responsibility, with no two days the same.

Regular travel and overnight stays are part of the role, making it ideal for someone who enjoys the field service lifestyle.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Key responsibilities include:

• Diagnosing, troubleshooting and repairing Caterpillar equipment and components
• Performing scheduled maintenance, breakdown repairs and major component replacements
• Working on engines, hydraulics, powertrain systems, transmissions and electrical systems
• Travelling throughout the region to support customers across a range of industries
• Delivering exceptional customer service and building strong customer relationships
• Managing your own workload, travel schedule and priorities
• Completing service reports and documentation
• Maintaining a safe work environment and following company procedures

ABOUT YOU

To be successful in this role, you'll bring:

• Previous Caterpillar experience highly desirable
• Experience on earthmoving, mining, construction or heavy equipment
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding capability
• Previous Field Service or Resident Technician experience highly regarded
• A customer-focused approach and strong communication skills
• The ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field
• Willingness to travel regularly, stay away overnight and work overtime when required
• Commitment to safety and quality workmanship
