Job summary

Federation Council is seeking a practical Risk & Safety Officer based in Corowa to help us build a safer workplace for staff and community volunteers. You will support WHS and risk systems, investigate incidents, assist the WHS Committee, and coordinate insurance for vehicles and personnel across all sites.

Core duties include workplace inspections, guiding volunteers on safety rules, logging reports in our online system, and keeping safety registers up to date.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in WHS or Risk Management (or equal hands-on experience).
• Background in running site checks, entering safety data, and following safety laws.
• Clear communication skills and the ability to build trust with outdoor crews, office teams, and local volunteers.

Responsibilities

• Workplace Inspections: Run regular safety walk-throughs across Council depots, offices, and parks to identify hazards early.
• Volunteer Support: Help community volunteers and event organisers understand basic safety rules and liability guidelines.
• Incident Care: Review incident reports and lead investigations when things go wrong.
• Safety Training: Help deliver simple safety talks and training sessions to Council teams.
• System Management: Keep our safety registers and insurance claims organised and up to date.
