Job summary

Veolia Australia & New Zealand is seeking a Field Plant & Equipment Service Technician to support the Portland Aluminium Smelter on-site in Portland, Victoria. You will oversee plant and equipment, ensuring safety, compliance and reliability while collaborating with operations teams.

This newly created role offers a hands-on opportunity to improve maintenance practices, access to Veolia's national asset management network, and a supportive site team focused on safety and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Experience with mechanical or mobile equipment in industrial settings.
• HR truck licence holder.
• Solid understanding of safety and environmental compliance.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Customer-focused with safety commitment.
• Ability to work independently and solve problems.
• Technical or trade qualifications are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and maintain plant and equipment at the Portland Aluminium site.
• Ensure assets meet safety, environmental and contractual requirements.
• Partner with Operations to keep equipment operating at full capability.
• Use Veolia’s asset management system (VAMS).
• Coordinate deliveries of stock and materials.
• Monitor asset condition with Planning, Scheduling and external providers.
• Carry out routine inspections and servicing to minimise downtime.
• Manage tools, equipment, resources and critical spare parts.
