Job summary

PROTECH is seeking motivated and reliable Field Officers to join the Fire Ant Eradication Program with Biosecurity Queensland, working from the Laidley Depot in South East Queensland. This outdoor role keeps you active while making a real difference to protecting communities and ecosystems.

You’ll conduct surveillance, apply bait treatments, and record observations as part of a supportive team. The position offers an attractive hourly rate and a 9-day fortnight.

Qualifications

• Holds a current open driver's licence.
• Enjoy outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Experience in landscaping, agriculture, arboriculture, conservation, land management, civil works, or related outdoor roles.
• Be physically fit and able to walk 10–15 km per day.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Team player with safety-first mindset.

Responsibilities

• Conduct visual surveillance for fire ants and other pests.
• Apply bait treatments in targeted areas.
• Record field observations and data accurately.
• Complete daily reports and record-keeping activities.
• Drive a company vehicle between sites.
• Engage with the public and provide information when required.
