Topcon Positioning System Aust. in Loganholme, QLD, is seeking a Field Engineer/Survey Technician. This hands-on role tests 3D machine control systems on heavy machinery across sites, with end-to-end ownership from planning to sign-off.

As Topcon's Field Engineer/Survey Technician, you will be in charge of testing machine control systems and proving they work in the real world. About the role:

You will work with Topcon machine control systems and technology across heavy and civil applications, including dozers, excavators, graders and more. This is a hands‑on role for someone who wants to own their work end‑to‑end. That means you'll work directly with engineering and product development teams, taking ownership of test coverage, diagnosing what's wrong when things aren't working, and signing off when they are.

Position is based at our Loganholme Test facility. Fully on‑site.

What you'll be doing:

• Installing, maintaining, calibrating and testing 3D machine control systems
• Own and execute the field test strategy, from coverage planning through to release sign-off
• Lead defect investigation across hardware and software
• Provide guidance to engineers and drive defect resolution
• Perform machine performance validation in real‑world operating conditions
• Build and maintain test infrastructure including cabling, bracketry, and equipment

What you'll bring:

• Hands‑on experience with heavy machinery or 3D machine control systems
• GPS or survey experience valued but not a necessity – on‑site training can be provided!
• Experience with test management tools such as TestRail or qTest, highly regarded
• Technical, trade or degree qualifications in Construction, Surveying, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, Computing, or Hydraulics, or 3+ years in a relevant QA/Surveying/Test Engineering role
• White Card, First Aid and a valid driver's licence (or willingness to obtain)
• Experience in fabrication, welding, hydraulics, or general mechanical work is a plus
