Job summary

A global construction firm is seeking a Field Engineer in Perth, WA, to monitor contractor compliance with project specifications. You'll be responsible for coordinating tasks across various disciplines, reviewing contractor schedules, and ensuring safety and quality in construction activities. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree and 5-8 years of experience in infrastructure or construction projects. This role is based in a full-time office environment.

Qualifications

Job Summary

In this role, you will report to the Construction Manager - Capital Projects.

You will monitor that the contractor is compliant with project specifications and requirements.

The Field Engineer supports engineering design, inspections, and troubleshooting to ensure construction quality and compliance with specifications and regulatory standards.

Major Responsibilities

Planning / Productivity

  • Coordinate activities with other disciplines or areas and technical representatives, as instructed by construction management to ensure program delivery priorities are maintained.
  • Review all contractor submittials including construction schedules, costs, reports, and changes.
  • Coordinate data for reports and forecasts, including summaries of construction progress and expenditure forecasts.
  • Support and assist internal stakeholders regarding onsite project related activities and logistics.
  • Review the flow of information required from third-party companies or D & C contractors to facilitate the timely progress of the engineering work.
  • Review field engineering progress, quality records and quantity verification against approved schedules, evaluate changes and advise corrective action when required.

Safety & Quality

  • Actively monitor contractor compliance with safety requirements and encourage contractors to perform in a safe manner.
  • Monitor work activities and the quality of work performed by the contractor.
  • Coordinate service providers for technical inspections of the project contractor's work.
Education And Experience Requirements
  • Required bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge And Skills
  • Demonstrated skills in oral and written communication
  • Interpersonal skills and able to interact closely with contractors while maintaining necessary levels of commercial awareness
  • Commercial acumen within a technical environment
  • Ability to engage in a collaborative working environment with internal and external stakeholders
  • Practical work experience infrastructure projects and/or construction industry is required. Computer literate in MS Office and database applications as well as BIM environments required.
