Job summary

Harmony Australasia is seeking a Field Engineer to translate IFC drawings into on-site work packs and coordinate with civil and structural teams on major projects in Cloncurry. The role reports to the Deputy Construction Manager and focuses on safe, efficient delivery and compliance with standards.

The position is site-based with DIDO from local communities or FIFO from Brisbane or Townsville, on an 8 days on / 6 days off roster, and runs until 31 August 2028.

Qualifications

• 5 years construction experience.
• Tertiary qualifications in Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Translate IFC drawings into practical work packs for safe, constructable construction activities on site.
• Act as the link between engineering design and project execution with construction teams and stakeholders.
• Develop work packs including scope, drawings, sequencing (SWMS), safety, permits, and RFIs.
• Clarify designs and perform ad hoc design tasks as needed.
• Prepare documentation for standards, procedures, safe working practices and monitoring regimes.

Are you an experienced engineering professional who thrives in a construction environment and enjoys turning design into reality? We are seeking a motivated Field Engineer to join our Eva team and play a key role in supporting the delivery of major civil and structural projects.

As a Field Engineer reporting to the Deputy Construction Manager, you will be responsible for translating Issued for Construction (IFC) drawings into practical, constructable work packs that enable safe, efficient, and compliant construction activities on site. Acting as the critical link between engineering design and project execution, you will work closely with construction teams, engineers, designers, and project stakeholders to ensure works are delivered safely, effectively, and to schedule.

This is a fixed term role until 31/08/2028

This is a site-based role. This role will be DIDO from local communities or FIFO from Brisbane or Townsville to our site in Cloncurry with local candidates highly regarded. The roster is 8 days on, 6 days off.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring all civil and structural engineering project work complies with statutory and regulatory requirements and company policies and practices;
• Develop work packs that enable construction of IFC drawings. These work packs consolidate all materials required to commence construction such as scope, drawings, methodologies/sequencing considerations (SWMS), safety and risk considerations, related permits, RFIs/clarifications.
• Focal point for design/drawing clarification and ad hoc design tasks.
• Preparing documentation for standards, procedures, safe working practices and monitoring regimes in respect of work on or around civil and structural engineering projects;
• Liaison with other department engineers and designers to ensure project goals are met

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Engineering.
• 5 years construction experience.

About The Team

Harmony is the largest gold producer by volume in South Africa and is a significant operator of gold tailings retreatment facilities. In Papua New Guinea, Harmony owns and operates the Hidden Valley mine and owns 50% of the Tier 1 Wafi-Golpu copper-gold project. In Australia, Harmony owns the high-grade CSA copper mine in Cobar, NSW and is constructing the Eva Copper Mine in Cloncurry, QLD. These assets are supported by the Harmony Australasia regional corporate office located in Milton, Brisbane.

The Eva Copper Mine is a significant and strategically important project for Harmony marking a major milestone in the company’s copper growth strategy and its long-term commitment to Northwest Queensland. The mine will have a minimum life of 15 years and will involve mining multiple open cut pits providing copper bearing ore to a concentrator. Front-end engineering design is complete, and mine construction is expected to take up to 30 months with first production targeted for the second half of the 2028 calendar year.
